Huzza! Horray!

I am so happy this afternoon. I finish work on saturday which means I only have two days of cleaning left- oh joy of joys! And Katie only has two days left at the commerce commission too which I think will mean much celebration and throwing ourselves around the dance floor this weekend (which also happens to be our last weekend in Wellington). Although frankly the whole of the last couple of weeks seems to have been a whirling dervish of social engagements which have left me a little exhausted. Our little pirate fellowship here has begun to break up- last weekend the Marks left Wellington (see pics of them on the post below) so we had a couple of nights filled with pool, tequilla and dancin' to bid them aideu. Then after waving them goodbye on Sunday we celebrated mid-winter with a feast in the hostel. Food, drink and good spirit was aplenty- everyone made a dish and it was all amazing! I made a chocolate and rum cake which was heaven on earth (though perhaps it might have only tasted so good because I quaffed all the rum I didn't use). We talked the hostel staff into playing Christmas tunes for us and then took a midnight stroll to ease our stuffed bellies. All in all it was a wonderful night. In true Christmas style we spent Monday doing nothing, and yesterday evening doing a pub quiz. Hmmmm... not our most successful attempt at fame and glory. We didn't quite come last, but were almost there. Unfortunately we couldn't even blame it on the quiz master this week- all down to our lack of knowledge. Though I have to say Katie was having flashes of brilliance in the country and western round.
I think that is all for now. I'm away now to enjoy the rest of the sunshine. Au revoir, mes amis xx

What a brilliant post, although I think you just really wanted to write the words 'whirling dervish' didn't you?!

I'm very, very intrigued by this quiz that hada country and western round. Come on Sal, you know me and my Nashville inspired musical tastes! Why isn't there a quiz like that here?! Is Katie also a fan or were these just some lucky guesses?!

Oh, and I am most annoyed about Superman Returns being released over there 2 weeks before here, Fred has been gloating.

Both me and Katie are big country and western fans! One blessed day we will make a pilgrimage to Dollywood together, and you should join us Dodfather. I'm seeing Superman tomorrow, does that make you hate me? I'm a little dubious about the film... there doesn't seem to be any falling coconuts in the trailer! By the way Dodfather, my mum's on holiday so you'll have to take over the title of most prolific commentator for a while! Sal x

No no no no no!! Not fair that you guys are getting to see it before me! I don't wanna know anything about it, as hard as that will be.

Im not the kind of fan who'll go to Dollywood, I have to say. Although I do plan a pilgrimage to Nashville. Here are some CD's you should gety if you're into country:

All Sara Evans albums(especially 'Born To Fly', trust me it's awesome)

    LeAnn Womack: Greatest Hits

Gram Parsons: Return of the Grievous Angel

Johnny Cash: Ring of Fire: The Legend of Johnny Cash (good starting point)

Alison Krauss and Union Station: Lonely Runs Both Ways

So many more but they'll do off the top of my head. Oh, and stay away from Kenny Chesney!

Come home soon Auntie Sally, I miss you.

Well, actually I'm far too young to miss anyone but my mummy misses you so much, and I'm happy when she's happy so I can't wait til you're back.

I ate risotto for the first time this morning, who knew such joys existed?!
